Hi There,
Another month has passed and there is definitely a spring feeling in the air. As I write this it’s a clear calm day, the lake is like glass and it 10 deg outside.
With spring just around the corner now is the time to be looking to put your property on the market so if I can help at all just get in touch.
As we look back at July, you’ll see in the numbers a rather obscure month. Properties sold in less than a third of the time compared to this time last year, yet the number of sales dropped a third. Section sales held steady, which indicates a resurgence of interest in building. These figures, in fact, represent activity that occurred in May, when actual contracts were drawn up. It would be fair to say that our area felt the compounding winter and economic conditions typical of that time of year take their effect slightly more diligently this time round.
The good news is we have made it through another pre-winter period and can look forward to the remaining eleven months in our town being spectacular.
On the ground we would describe current activity as fairly energetic. We have an impressive range of property on our books and an energized team talking to buyers every day.
We breathe a collective sigh of relief as we bid farewell to the ‘inversions’ and welcome back the peep toe.
Tourism remains positive with Statistics NZ reporting for June 2010: visitor arrivals from Australia numbered 76,200, up 7% from June 2009, combined visitor arrivals from China, Japan and Korea were up 6,900 or 86%, China was 5,500 similar to 2006 and 2008, prior to the H1N1 outbreak. However, arrivals from Japan and Korea were still well below June 2008 levels. There were fewer visitors from the United Kingdom down 13% and the United States down 8%.
